As we all try to stay up to date on the status of Brexit – if it will happen, when it will happen, how it will happen, etc. – most of us our primarily wondering how it will affect our own lives. And if you’re about to tie the knot, you may be wondering if a destination wedding in sunny Spain is still on the table.
As destination wedding planners based in London, the most commonly asked question for us is, “Will Brexit affect my Destination Wedding in Europe?” You’ll be happy to know that, most likely, you’ll still be able to fulfill your traveling wishes!
Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning your European destination wedding if Brexit is successful:
1. Keep a Flexible Budget for Currency Exchanges
Some wedding vendors have currency exchange fees added in, and while they are usually not exceptionally high, they can add up. Since it is still uncertain how Brexit might affect the value of the pound or currency differences, it’s a good idea to leave room for a few incurred fees.
However, we work hard to negotiate deals and work with trusted suppliers to stay as close to your budget as possible.

2. Have Several Dates in Mind
We still do not know if the Open Skies policy will be in place to fly freely around Europe post-Brexit. If it’s revoked, you may have to look for different flights depending on the country (the EU will most likely become stricter on which airlines they allow in). If you’re flexible on dates and airlines, you will have a better chance of finding cheaper options.
We at Perfectly Planned 4 You will help you find the best deal on flights and serve as international liaisons to make the process as smooth as possible.

3. Prepare for Additional Paperwork
If Brexit goes through, most European countries will require additional paperwork and visa regulations from non-citizens (which may also cost a little more).
But we’re prepared! At Perfectly Planned 4 You, we provide paperwork assistance and work with the host country’s embassy and government on your behalf.

4. Your Marriage is Legally Recognised
No matter the status of Brexit, the UK will still recognise any marriage held abroad given it follows that country’s rules and regulations (i.e. it’s deemed legal in the host country).
