Married in Morocco Series: How to create your Moroccan Themed Wedding here in London

So, you want a Moroccan destination wedding. The problem is, you don’t want to ask your friends and family to fly all the way to Morocco for your big day. Well, worry not, as with some clever wedding planning, you can have the Moroccan inspired wedding you’ve always dreamed of here in London.
To get you started, here are some fun ways you can bring the exotic world of Morocco to you wedding day:

Wedding Invitations

One of the best things about planning a Moroccan wedding is the fact that you can really go wild with your opulent colours and textures. So, rather than choosing a classic ivory or muted invitation theme, a Moroccan wedding invitation can feature bright colours such as oranges, purples, reds and jade. You could even add coppers and golds for a touch of glamour.
When it comes to the style of invitation, many Moroccan invitations feature bold patterns and laser-cut gated openings. For extra opulence, choose gold envelopes and have your guest’s names and addresses added in calligraphy.

Moroccan Caftan Wedding Dress

The traditional wedding attire of a Moroccan bride is a caftan made from the best in silks and other expensive materials embellished with gorgeous beading. These come in a wide array of colours, including the wedding traditional colour of white. You could even where a wedding gown to your ceremony and opt for a caftan evening dress for your reception.

Moroccan Décor and Table Settings

The wonderful thing about a Moroccan theme is that you can adapt it to fit any budget, venue or size. Like your invitations, bright and bold colours are key and can be added in a number of ways. For instance, you can add warm oranges and purples as table runners or chair bows. Gold cutlery and gold patterned chargers will also work very well with this theme.
Lanterns are heavily featured in Moroccan weddings and these can be used in a number of ways in your wedding, such as up the aisle, as table centrepieces and as accents on other tables. If your venue allows, you could even have fabric draped across that venue and feature Moroccan-style rugs.
If you’re struggling to add the Moroccan colours to your venue, floral arrangements are a quick and simple way to add bursts of colour in a stylish way.

Your Wedding Cake

Choosing a Moroccan wedding cake is another simple way for couples to add that destination wedding vibe to their big day. Plus, a bright and eye-catching cake is something your guests will be talking about for years to come. Here you can still have your class three-tier cake, just use the reds, oranges and purples associated with this beautiful north African country, all with accents of gold and copper to finish it off.

Moroccan Food

While here in the UK we tend to have a formal wedding breakfast, with your three courses. With Moroccan weddings, you are more likely to experience large and delicious banquets with all the local delicacies. For your Moroccan-themed wedding in London, you could look to have your reception catered in the same way.
Or, if you still like the idea of a traditional 3-course meal, theme these around Moroccan dishes such as lamb tagine and finish it off with some mint tea.
