‘Living coral’, aka Pantone 16-1546, has been named colour of the year by the renowned colour matching system. Described as “buoyant, vibrant and effervescent”, the marine tone is predicted to dominate the wedding industry over the next 12 months.
I was so excited when this year's colour was announced! I am a huge fan of the bold reddish shade of orange, it is extremely versatile and many other colours go with this lively shade. Colours that look good with coral include neutrals, golds, pinks, blues and greens. Living Coral is a colour which is supposed to be embracing nature and optimism.
Bold brides will love making coral the primary hue in their wedding colour palette, while couples who desire just a hint of coral can incorporate the shade into invitations, bouquets, or even bridesmaid gowns. During summer months, pair Living coral with white, soft grey and pale blues. But darker hues can be used in winter for warmer feelings, combining beautifully with metallics as well as natural greens.
To show off Living Coral's versatility, I styled two different wedding table settings.
