How do you throw a fun wedding reception?

Imagine it; the day has arrived, the dress looks great, the ceremony was perfect and you are feeling ready to party but how do you make sure you host a wedding reception that is fun for everyone? Here at Perfectly Planned 4 You, we understand your desire to make your reception fun and have come up with some ideas to help you make it the best night of your newly wedded life.

Comfort

It may sound simple but making sure that there is a place for your guest to relax when their feet get tired from the dancing is an absolute must! Blank canvas spaces are a great choice when planning a stylish wedding as you can shape the space to suit your needs.

Cordon off an area or go for a dry hire venue where there is an area for people to take five and have a chat. This will ensure they are feeling in the mood to rejoin the party when their toes are a little less achy.

Timings

If you want to keep your wedding party flowing then you need to make sure you have a clear timing schedule. No one enjoys sitting in awkward silence waiting for the DJs to start so make sure there is music playing and activities for people to take part in before you kick off your evening in style.

Using a wedding planner or coordinator will take the pressure off you having to do this on the day so that you can focus on being swept along in all the fun and not worry about a single thing.

Entertainment

Choose a band or DJ that will play the music you love and that people can dance to. The secret to having that dancefloor pumping at your urban wedding is making sure there is music that people want to dance to.

Don’t forget the entertainment is more than just music and plan other things for people to enjoy throughout the evening; maybe a magician or casino games, a photo booth or you could even be daring and hire some circus artists or let off fireworks. Just remember to go with what you want because people there will want to celebrate the two of you and everything you love.

Food

Make sure your food is buffet style and doesn’t require table service as this can often ruin the mood of an evening party. You could have a traditional buffet or hire a hog roast or food truck to supply your hungry guests with handheld snacks.

Many people now also offer a late-night snack as guests are coming to the end of the evening, this can be a great way to keep people energised and willing to dance for longer, keeping the dancefloor full all night!

Don’t Stress

Many people get overtaken by creating a perfect wedding they forget to have fun. By not taking yourself too seriously you could inject some humour into your reception that will put a smile on everyone’s faces. Try, for example, printing off photos of when you were younger so people can see the journey you’ve both been on. Anything that will add a touch of humour and keep your guests amused is only going to help make your reception fun and exciting.

Rather than getting bogged down and panicking about what other people think it’s fun, spend time with a wedding planner who can coordinate the whole day or just the evening fun. Please email hello@perfectlyplanned4you.com. We’d love to consult you on your wedding day needs.
